Arguments I Can’t Believe Theists Still Use #2

“What do you think’s holding the Earth up?”

OK, to be fair, I’ve only ever heard this once; on an episode of The Atheist Experience Show.  Nonetheless I…just…WHAT?

Up from what?  Down?  What’s down in space exactly?  There is no up and down in space!  Gravity changes dependent on local mass.  The “up” and “down” on Earth exist because Earth’s enormous mass creates a gravitational pull all around.  You think the Earth is being held “up”?  Seriously?  OK, why don’t all the people on the bottom fall off then?
